Prezel croissant with strawberries, cherries and creamy vanilla quark. Why wait until the weekend to treat yourself with a delicious breakfast? This soft croissant is filled with summer ingredients and prepared in no time at all. An absolute soulfood.
I wouldn’t be surprised if one night I dreamed that I was bathing in a pool full of freshly baked prezel croissants, strawberries and cherries. This breakfast guysss.
As simple as this soulfood is, I still have a few little tips for you:
- Either use a fresh croissant from the bakery or bake it in the oven for a few minutes before preparing it. This breakfast stands and falls with this soft, airy French pastry.
You can use a prezel croissants or, of course the classic version. Personally, I prefer the rustic pretzel croissants. Mmm… - The strawberries should taste like fruity, delicious strawberries. The cherries should taste like sweet, juicy cherries. Kinda obvious but not, if it’s someday between October and March. If you don’t have the possibility to get ripe strawberries and cherries, then I recommend you replace them with other fruits (e.g. raspberries, blueberries,… Depending on the season).
- If you want to make your prezel croissant with strawberries and cherries extra, EXTRA delicious spread some maple syrup or honey on the top half. This makes it a bit more sticky to eat, but it tastes really good. Especially if you use a lye croissant. The slight bitterness of the lye, together with the sweetness of the syrup and the fruitiness of the berries is simply brilliant!
